Frequently Asked Questions

Still feeling a little unsure? We understand! Here are some quick answers to common questions about visiting Brown.

What are your gatherings like?

Brown is an inclusive and diverse Christian community with historic roots in the heart of Baltimore City. By “diverse,” we mean in age, family situation, identity, race, religious tradition, and theological viewpoint. Our congregation includes lifelong Presbyterians and those just seeking a church that aligns with their hopes for spiritual depth and meaningful community. Our gatherings focus on worshiping God through song, storytelling, Scripture, and sermons. We intentionally include children and, as the Spirit guides us, we continuously adapt our community’s practice of faith in honest and transparent ways.

As a new visitor, we strive to strike a balance between clearly expressing our welcoming spirit and giving you space to learn more about the church. You can remain anonymous if you prefer, but we encourage you to speak with an usher or fill out a communication card (located inside the blue welcome folders in the pews) so we can welcome you personally.

You don’t need to bring anything! Just show up.

There is no dress code at Brown. Your typical clothing is just fine and especially in the summers, we keep it very casual. See this photo of our Senior Pastor for reference.

Definitely! The more the merrier.
