About Our Worship
Worship is the main act of the Christian community of faith. Every Sunday we gather to encounter God. We bring to the experience our voices, our music, the preacher’s interpretive reflection on a Bible passage, our prayers of thanksgiving, our prayers of request, our hopes, our dreams, our pain and sometimes even our protest. But we always join together with the expectation that God will meet us in worship. This kind of encounter with the holy is transformative.
Schedule of Services
Our typical worship schedule runs from the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day:
10:00 AM Christian Education and Adult Forum
11:00 AM Sunday Worship
Our summer worship schedule runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day:
10:00 AM Sunday Worship
Children in Worship
Children of all ages are welcome in worship. Mothers of nursing children are welcome to breastfeed their babies wherever they feel most comfortable. A rocking chair for parents is located to the left as you enter the sanctuary in an area with toys and books for babies and toddlers who need some space to move around. Child care is provided each Sunday for parents who wish to take their youngest children to the nursery.
First Time Worshippers
When you come to worship, a written order of worship will be given to you at the door. Large print editions are available for those who desire them. (Hearing assistance is also available at the door.) The written order of worship will tell you what’s happening in the service. Some prayers are prayed aloud together. Some are spoken only by the liturgist, the worship leader.
Communion
Communion is typically served on the first Sunday of each month. Anyone who wishes to follow Jesus Christ, usually signified by baptism, is welcome to participate, including children who have been baptized. The minister will give detailed instructions on how to receive communion. As with any feast among friends, the experience is intended to be a joyful one, so don’t worry about making mistakes. Jesus liked to eat with all kinds of people, especially those who didn’t think of themselves as being particularly religious.
